Chapped lips are frustrating and with the current cold weather, it is something that most of us are experiencing and probably struggling to deal with.
By trying to make some DIY lip care products, you’re not only saving yourself some money (this lip scrub comes to a maximum of £5 to make) but, with a lip scrub at Lush retailing at £6.50, you are also helping to reduce plastic waste.

Lip scrubs help to nourish and replenish your lips as they are a light exfoliator and with the ingredients used in this recipe being affordable and available to buy on your local high street (in places like Holland & Barrett), there’s no reason not to give it a go.
You will need:
- 4 tsp light brown sugar — softer than white sugar, and therefore perfect for exfoliating as it doesn’t damage the skin
- 1 tsp honey — naturally antibacterial and helps to hydrate and nourish skin so great for dry lips
- 2 tsp sweet almond oil — known for helping to rejuvenate dead cells on your lips and helps to prevent chapped lips as well as keep them moisturised. You can also use this in hair and face masks!
- 2 drops vanilla flavouring — used in order for the scrub to smell and taste nice if you end up accidentally eating some of it in the lip scrubbing process
Make it:
- Mix together all the ingredients thoroughly in a small glass bowl.
- Decant the mixture into your small glass jar for storage, so that you are able to use both at home and on-the-go if your lips are really in need of some TLC.
- When using the lip scrub massage into your lips thoroughly and leave on for a few seconds or minutes depending on how much of an exfoliating you desire.
- Proceed to wash off with warm water and apply a thick layer of your favourite lip balm in order to re-nourish your lips.
