1 – Gris

Created by indie game developer Nomada Studio, from Spain, this game offers players the opportunity to espace into a dream-like universe. You find yourself playing a girl named Gris, as she wakes up in the palm of a crumbling statue. The statue suddenly disintegrates and Gris falls to a colourless world below. All through the game, you try to regain the colours of your planet as you scour various scenic areas. The game was released in December 2018 and has received shinning reviews.

2 – Flower

This game was first released in 2009 by developer Thatgamecompany and immediately caught people’s attention for its calm restful atmosphere. The player is supposed direct a floating petal by controlling the breeze over a series of meadows. That’s it. Too boring? Think again. It’s a great way to unwind after a long stressful day and is a great alternative to regular fast-paced games. Unwind, relax and float away with Flower.

3 – flOw

Another great indie game created by the same developers of Flower. In this particular scenario, you guide a small, neon creature through what seems to be an aquatic universe. The more you ‘eat’ food/circles, the longer and more colourful you get. This game is interesting as it is completely void of any guidelines, you just learn along the way. It’s a great way to empty your head, especially as the soundtrack to flOw is very minimal and relaxing.

4 – Playne

Playne is the self-professed “game that grows with you”. It’s the first-ever game directly dealing with meditation and mindfulness. Playne will help you reach a calmer, more positive outlook on life. You find yourself in an open, natural landscape, accompanied by your trusted friend, Fox. Through breathing and meditation, the landscape slowly grows and flourishes, as does you mind. This is a very interesting concept for a game and one we are eager to try out here at Project.esc
