Many people suffer from addiction to the internet. According to one study by the University of Hong Kong, up to 6% of those with internet access globally suffer from internet addiction.
Like any other compulsive behaviour such as gambling, internet addiction is all about getting that rush of feel-good dopamine. But it can also have negative consequences for sufferers once the moment wears off. Addicts often feel tired, isolated and feel like they are missing out on formerly pleasurable activities, to the detriment of their lives.
