A SOUTH WALES man will line up for Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball against European opposition tonight (Tuesday).

Phil Pratt, who plays for Cardiff Celts Wheelchair Basketball, is part of a 17-man UK team who face Italian Champions Briantea84 as part of their preparations for the European Wheelchair Basketball Championships later this month. He attended Loughborough University and previously played Wheelchair tennis.

Pratt, 21, was a London 2012 Paralympic flag bearer and made his senior debut for Great Britain last summer at the World Championships against South Korea.

Cardiff Celts’ player-coach Caroline Matthews, who represented Great Britain wheelchair basketball at the Athens and Beijing Olympics in 2004 and 2008 respectively, said: “He [Pratt] has matured as a true international talent over the past few seasons and we are very lucky to have him in our team.”
