Luke takes the plunge to test out a winter wetsuit on location in Cardiff

Have you ever looked at a freezing cold river and thought to yourself, “I want a dunk in that”? No? Don’t blame you. Luckily, Vanalogue’s Luke Meates does the dirty work for us.

Team Vanalogue ventured outdoors one gloomy morning (typical of Wales, really), to sacrifice Luke to the Welsh winter waters. All in the name of science. Well, that’s what we told him.

Hope (our behind the scenes beaver) helps our wetsuit tester, Luke

Without much resistance, Luke made his first steps into the river. The rest of the team stood taking pictures and filming; soaked with mud and rain. The dramatic weather didn’t help us film the best pictures, nor did it make the situation all that comfortable, but it was worth it.

In all seriousness, a wetsuit is an essential piece of kit for surviving winter treks. So, don’t try and be a hero (yes we’re looking at you, Luke), suit up before you get wet.
