9 great plastic-free makeup brands for a zero-waste face

Get your hands on eco-friendly beauty products from these brilliant zero-waste beauty brands

Plastic-free beauty products don’t have to be hard to find – here are a few to add to your collection. Etsy is a great place to find affordable plastic-free beauty, so that’s our favourite place to look for eco-friendly makeup. We also recommend using Glow Organic and Naturismo to source all zero-waste beauty products, not just cosmetics. No makeup look is complete without super skincare. Try our homemade lip scrub recipe before applying lippy, or even an indulgent facemask before applying foundation.

Kjaer Weis

Kjaer Weis is a high-end example of a plastic-free makeup brand. Each of their products is encased in metal packaging and the make-up itself is designed to be refillable. The initial purchase of Kjaer Weis products will make more of a dent in your wallet but the refills are reasonably priced. This brand might be an investment but it’s worth it in the long term, both in terms of waste reduction and value for money.

Keeping It Natural

One way to find new good quality cosmetics brands is by searching online marketplaces like Etsy – and you can support small businesses at the same time. Keeping It Natural is an independent cosmetics company that uses tin packaging. This zero waste make-up line prides itself on its natural, vegan and cruelty-free ingredients. Keeping It Natural is a US-based store, but the company does offer international shipping.

Clean-Faced Cosmetics

Another one of our Etsy finds, Clean-Faced Cosmetics is also vegan and cruelty-free. Our favourite picks include the lash lengthening powder and gorgeous vegan eyeshadow palette. Their products are all made by hand, which means you can even place custom orders, and they only use tin and glass packaging.

Antonym

Antonym makes beautiful products encased in bamboo packaging. The makeup itself is free from parabens, sulphates and other nasty chemicals too. Unfortunately, their mascara isn’t plastic-free, but their blushes and eyeshadows are completely zero-waste.

Lush

Lush are well known for their eco-friendly stance on beauty products and cosmetics. Unsurprisingly, they’ve got an amazing range of plastic-free products to explore. However, we find it’s much easier to find these products in store than online, so it might be worth taking a trip to your nearest Lush store.

RMS Beauty

A favourite brand for Miranda Kerr, Gisele, and Meghan Markle, RMS (Rose-Marie Swift) Beauty uses metal and glass for the majority of their packaging. While RMS Beauty mascaras are not entirely plastic-free, you can use their make-up brushes and lip products, not forgetting the coconut oil eco-friendly make-up wipes, guilt-free. RMS Beauty has some beautiful neutral makeup and is a worthy addition to your collection.
