Cucumber face mask
Face masks are a great way to give your skin a bit of help –
and if they’re plastic-free, we’re even bigger fans!

As the winter months roll on, a little bit of TLC for your face could be exactly the pick-me-up you’re in need of.

Looking after your skin doesn’t have to be expensive and, with these face masks, you can whip up a recipe for perfect skin without even leaving the house.

Not everyone has essential oils to hand but a teaspoon of sugar shouldn’t be so hard to come by – especially if you’re cosying up with a cuppa.

Best for… minimising the appearance of pores

The size of your pores is genetic and you can’t just erase them. You can, however, reduce their size and appearance, and this face mask aims to do exactly that. Just whisk the egg white – known for its tightening properties – together with the coconut oil and lemon juice and apply to face for 15 minutes before rinsing with water. The added lemon juice will brighten the skin for an all-day glow.

You will need:

  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tbsp of coconut oil
  • A squeeze of lemon juice
Egg white facemask
A face mask cocktail, anyone?

Best for… exfoliating

Micro-beads are harsh on the environment and your skin. Try this natural sugar scrub with ground ginger to help even skin tone. Combine the sugar, honey, ginger and coconut oil in a bowl and apply to skin. Gently rub the mixture in upwards circular motions to remove dead skin cells and rinse with water after 1-2 minutes.

You will need:

  • 2 tbsp of sugar (white or brown)
  • 1 tbsp of honey
  • 1 tsp of ground ginger
  • 1 tsp of coconut oil
Facemask made of sugar and honey
The sugar in this particular recipe is great for exfoliation

Best for… dry skin

Cold weather can be a real challenge for dry skin. With soothing oats and cucumber, this face mask will calm any irritated skin and deeply moisturise for a revived complexion. Simply whizz up the cucumber and oats in a blender, stir in the honey and apply to skin for around 15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water.

You will need:

  • ¼ cucumber
  • 1 tablespoon of oats
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
