Bouncing back! Schoolboy petitions for access to basketball courts

A 14-year-old basketball player who dreams of playing on Wales’s national team is petitioning Cardiff Council to provide more hirable courts.

Marcus Basketball petitionMarcus Giudice-Maynard, from Pontprennau, said: “I think I would like to play for Wales but I have nowhere to practice apart from my garden. When I reach 100 signatures I want to go to the council.”

If the petition makes a change in Wales the schoolboy hopes the same can then be achieved in England and Scotland.

Chris Smith, who signed the petition, said: “After 25 years of playing, I am absolutely sick of not having the facilities to play when I want to. This should be a UK-wide petition.”

Konrad Marchlewski commented on the petition page: “It would be great if we could play at Roath Park without thinking about if the basket will fall on our heads.”
