Cardiff’s Mica Moore starts bid for Olympic medal

CARDIFF’S Mica Moore is competing today in the women’s two-man bobsleigh at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea after posting quick times through the three training days.

Ahead of today’s running Moore and her pilot Mica McNeill have posted times good enough for second and third place across the three training days, boosting their hopes of fighting for another Team GB medal.

The former sprinter almost didn’t make it to the games after the British Bobsleigh and Skeleton association withdrew their funding last September five months before the games.

This was despite funding being retained to send three male teams to the games.

However the duo set up “Get Team McNeill to the Olympics” fundraising campaign, with the drive raising £25,000 over the first three days.

The events kicks off at 11.50 (GMT) and will run until 13.45.

Each team competing will complete four heats on the track – two today and two tomorrow – with the quickest total time over all four heats taking the gold.
