RADIO Wales presenter Chris Needs MBE and media personality Lauren Harries are among a star-studded judging panel for this year’s The Great Roath Bake Off.
The popular contest returns for the fourth consecutive year in April and is expected to be the biggest one yet.
Organiser Wayne Courtney said: “It’s popularity has grown each year and this year we anticipate a massive turn out. Over 600 people came last year with over 200 entries to one competition.”
The event sees amateur bakers aim to impress the selected panel of judges with their tasty creations from chocolate brownies to Victoria sponge cakes. Supporting Chris Needs MBE and Lauren Harries on the team of judges this year are BBC weather presenter Owain Wyn Evans, artist Nathan Wyburn and local food industry experts.
Mr Courtney added: “We also have entertainment from some of the best south Wales musicians, including Ragsy who was a finalist on The Voice. All money raised through the bake off is going to A6 acute stroke unit and A6 trauma unit. It’s really got more popular this year with lots of good things going on.”
The competition takes place at St Andrews Church hall on Wellfield Road on Saturday April 12 at 11am.
