Discussion over new site for Whitchurch Road surgery

Cardiff residents are being encouraged to give their views on whether the Whitchurch Road doctors’ surgery should move to a new location.

Gabalfa Councillor Ed Bridges said moving to a new site makes perfect sense

Plans to move the surgery to a new site at Flaxland Allotments, Heath, have been discussed for nearly a decade. Proposals may finally get the go ahead after a public consultation period.

Gabalfa Councillor Ed Bridges is in favour of the proposed move. He said: “The existing site is not really fit for purpose any more, there are lots of stairs and makes it difficult for disabled users.

“To move to a new purpose built facility makes perfect sense as long as the right consultation takes place. A lot of residents here use the service, including myself.”

SR Bailey pharmacy is also considering a move to the proposed Flaxland site. They are asking customers to give their thoughts on a move from their Whitchurch Road store.

The new site would provide a state of the art centre for the surrounding community. A public consultation event will allow residents, allotment holders and patients to find out more about the proposals.

The drop-in session is scheduled between 7pm and 9pm on Thursday April 3 in Whitchurch Road Surgery’s waiting room.
