Bute Park canal body is local man in 70s, say police

A LOCAL man in his 70s was pronounced dead, after he was discovered in Bute Park canal near Cardiff Castle yesterday.

Police were called to the location at 1.15pm on Sunday after the sighting. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service were also dispatched to help retrieve the body.

South Wales Police said: “Police in Cardiff are continuing to investigate the sudden death of a local man in his 70s whose body was discovered in the feeder canal at the rear of Cardiff Castle yesterday.

“There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. A file of evidence will be prepared for HM Coroner and attempts are being made to locate next of kin.”
